How It Works - The ACO. Process

Step 1 โ€” Initial Enquiry

Your first contact is an opportunity to begin the conversation around your project. We can discuss ideas, materials, function, and how best to use the space within your home or office.

Step 2 โ€” Initial Estimate

Following the initial enquiry, I will prepare an outline estimate based on the information provided. This helps establish the scope, direction, and approximate cost of the project before moving into detailed planning.

Step 3 โ€” Meeting & Site Survey

During the meeting, I (Peter) will take measurements and survey the space. This information helps establish the dimensions, function, and overall direction of the project.

We can discuss materials, finishes, colour palettes, and how the piece may sit within the wider space. We can also look at timelines and any forthcoming works that may affect the project.

Where possible, please have the space as clear as possible to allow all details to be noted.

Step 4 โ€” Design Development

Following the meeting, drawings and layouts will be developed to explore the project in more detail. This stage allows proportions, materials, construction details, and practical considerations to be refined before production begins.

Designs may evolve through conversation and feedback, helping shape the final outcome of the piece. Depending on the scale of the project, revised drawings or alternative options may also be shared during this stage.

Please allow 1โ€“2 weeks for drawings and details to be prepared and shared.

Step 5 โ€” Quotation & Sign-Off

Once the design direction has been agreed, a formal quotation will be issued outlining materials, labour, and any additional elements required.

At this stage, the production and installation timeline will also be confirmed before final approval and sign-off.

Step 6 โ€” Payment

Once the quotation has been approved, a deposit invoice will be issued. Payments are spread across the following stages:

25% โ€” Project deposit & design sign-off

50% โ€” Production stage

25% โ€” Project fully installed & signed off

Projects below ยฃ2,000 are typically paid 50 / 50%.

Alternative payment structures can be discussed where appropriate.

Step 7 โ€” Production

Once all drawings, materials, and details have been approved, production of the project will begin. Throughout this stage, updates and progress photographs may be shared where appropriate.

Lead times will vary depending on the scale and complexity of the project, material availability, and current workshop schedule.

Step 8 โ€” Installation

The final stage is the installation and finishing of the project within your space.

Installation timelines will be discussed in advance to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible. Once installed, the project will be reviewed together and signed off once complete.
